KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE

KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. You may be wondering why this is titled "Keep the dream alive" and I hope you are. Just this month, for the first time since I began working with COTN, I realized that after my paychecks this month I will be in the red - meaning, I will have a negative balance in my account because I do not have enough financial support coming in to cover my part time salary. You can see on the left how much I have monthly and how much I need total. That means I need another $565 per month committed. That's a lot! I know it can be done though.

I am praying, and will continue to do so, that God's will is done. I love being a part of this ministry and wish to continue here. Especially since I sit in the Dominican Republic as I write this. Maybe God is calling me away from COTN, and if so then I trust Him. I don't feel that calling though. I feel called to push through and get the funds raised that are needed.

(please keep reading in post "Keep the dream alive")

Sierra Leone 2012

So, remember how I told all of you my thoughts on the lengthy travel to the Dominican Republic?  I mentioned how I couldn't believe how long it took to get there.  WOW.  The travel to the DR is like a luxury cruise!  Never again will I complain about it.  There aren't words to describe the journey to and from Banta, Sierra Leone.  Too much of my breath has been spent telling people about the seemingly endless misery that was our traveling, so I am not going to rehash it on here.  I would much rather tell you the exciting things.  I can't bring myself to not mention it at all though because it is too thought consuming.  I'll give you an outline and you can fill in the rest.

2 hour flight to New Jersey +
7 hour flight to London +
6 hour flight to Freetown +
2 hours on a ferry boat +
9 hour van ride +
dirt roads +
wooden, sideways facing seats +
pouring rain minus A/C =
not fun.

There you have it.  Twenty very tired, very smelly Americans ready to serve and care for orphans! :)
